English不希望孩子們太懂English

我的教育專欄(331)令我不安的新聞

今天看到媒體新聞，蔡總統建議升學不要考英文，而用英檢來代替考試。我認為這是個很奇怪的想法。

首先，我們要知道，英檢是要付費的，我國有很多孩子可能的確籌不出這筆錢。令我不解的是，為何總統要建議這樣做?用英檢也許可以更精確地測出學生的英文程度(我對此也有疑問)，但是不論用什麼方法測驗學生的英文程度，台大醫學院永遠可以找到英文程度非常好的學生。問題是，學生英文程度再爛，照樣可以升大學。所以我不懂為何要用英檢來取代考試。

我們的問題乃是在於學生英文程度絕對有提升的空間，希望蔡總統能看到以下的句子。
